Talvista Lodge is a year-round full service lodge nestled in the spruce on the Talachulitna River 75 miles northwest of Anchorage. We offer clean and comfortable accommodations, hearty Alaskan cuisine, and friendly staff that will make you feel right at home the moment you walk in the door.
The Talachulitna River offers some of the best salmon and trout fly fishing in the world. The "Tal", as it is affectionately called by those who know and love it, is what anglers envision when they hear the term "The River Runs Through It." It is a small, intimate, gravel bottom-river with numerous sandbars and shallow riffles offering easy access to the deeper pools teeming with fish. Talvista Lodge welcomes all anglers, whether a novice or an expert, on a fly or a lure. We fish primarily by walking and wading and have fully equipped, clean, and comfortable jetboats for high water conditions or to cater to guests with physical limitations. The Tal is home to all five species of Pacific Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden and Arctic Grayling. Pike are accessible in nearby lakes.
Revel in this majestic winter wonderland. Follow our groomed and marked trail to the lodge and then head off to your winter playground. It is a short ride to Beluga Mountain, the Hayes glacier, and thousands of acres of snow-filled fun. Join us by the bonfire for the Iditarod or let us host your heli-ski tour on the nearby Tordrillo Mountains.
Whether you access us by floatplane, boat, snow machine, or raft; we will have everything you need for the ultimate Alaskan adventure!
